A well overdue update!

Its quite a while since I revisited my blog. A lot has happened at the Library since then.
The main news is that the courtyard area is now looking quite smart and attracting up market tenants for the vacant business units there.

Recently a Beauty Feet Fish Spa moved in. A what - yes feet for fish! Sholes of special liitle fish nibble at the dry skin on your soles and give you a unique pedicure! My wife tried it when we were there last weekend and said her feet had never felt so soft.

2010 at the Library

The New Year started well for the Library when a couple attending Celtic folk festival got engaged whilst staying at the apartment! The romance of Glasgow allied with the romance of such a historic building obviously did the trick (not to mention the proximity of all those shops in which to buy a ring) - congratulations to the newly engaged couple!

As owners we try to visit as often as we can and ensure the standards are what our visitors can continue to expect. Recently we 'upgraded' the internet connection by adding a wi fi router to our setup so its easier than ever to get online there - especially as we even supply a laptop if you dont want to take your own.
The addition of a large trunk has eased how to find that extra bedding if you are using the sofa bed, air bed or cot and fits in well with the bedroom decor.

Finally we took the opportunity of doing a short video of the aprtment so now you can 'try before you buy' with our virtual tour. You will find this video on YouTube as well as on the website - look for the link at the top of the home page.

The courtyard is now complete and looking quite attractive with the feature arches and the addition of an exit gate to Virginia St brings the likes of M&S foodhall literally accross the road from the exit. It also provides an even quicker and easier exit to the attractions of the Merchant City.

A few months since my last update. During that time we celebrated my birthday in February at the apartment. We had a great time and even stayed out of the shops long enough to go to Glasgow's Art Gallery & Museum.

The picture here shows an exhibition of expressions in the Gallery. Nicolette, my wife, was very impressed and even looks forward to a return vsit next time we are back in Glasgow. We also took in some theatre and the Strictly Dancing Tour. OPEN GOLF JULY 2009

The Ailsa Course Turnberry provides the spectacular backdrop for the 2009 Open Golf with practice rounds starting July 12th and the final round on July 19th. The course is only about an hour away from Glasgow so staying at the Library would give you easy access to the Golf plus all that Glasgow can offer you in the evenings. Great restaurants, pubs, clubs, concerts, cinema, theatre etc or just relax in our wonderful apartment.

Public transport is easy to the course as we are only minutes from the central train station. Trains will run to Girvan with special bus links to Turnberry. So no need to worry about driving or bringing a car when you have accommodation so centrally situated in the city. If you do bring a car then still no need to drive and pay a lot for car parking at the course - leave your car in High St car park for only £7.50 per day. Of course if you prefer to take your car then the M77 is easily accessible from the town centre.

Here we are in 2009 already. We spent Hogmanay at the Library apartment ourselves and it was great to be back in Glasgow at that special time of year. All sorts were going on in George Square as part of the Winterfest including a Guinness world record attempt at the largest outdoor tea dance. We didnt take part as I have 2 left feet but Glasgow did indeed achieve this accolation on a cold bright afternoon.

More to my taste was the Hogmanay bash in George Sq which was electrifying - great atmopshere and good music. Of course what was especially good was the fact that it was so easy to attend the celebrations as the apartment is only a stone's throw from George Square! It gave me an excuse to wear my kilt - though I definitely wont reveal what I was wearing under it!

Its all beginning to look very festive in the city. The Christmas lights have been switched on and George Square has become a veritable Winter Wonderland. Argyle Street shopping is right on your doorstep and there are Christmas markets along Argyle Street. You will find all the big names as well in Buchanan Street and can take advantage of the bargains the department stores are offering this Christmas.
